My Role & Responsibilities
Maintain current functionality but extend to work with new features and processes
Enhanced visual and user experience
Responsive web solution for mobile, tablet and desktop
User and market research, protyping, UI design
Cross-browser and cross-device testing
The Challenge
The main business objective for this project was to move more customers on to the fully installed option by simplifying the retailer selection process through enhanced functionality and usability beyond what competitors are offering but also what users expect from online shopping in a modern world.
The bigger picture and next step for this project was an end-to-end solution collecting installer fees online - providing customers the convenience and buying protection that they expect.
The Approach
In order to meet the demands of the business objectives and the needs of a user, you have to understand your customer and not just focus on the features offered by competitiors, but instead focus on the best interests of the users and create a selection process that is usable and informative.
Gathering insight from key stakeholders helped me to understand the business challenges.
Sharing ideas and allowing for input at all stages of the project identified risks and created a shared vision for the project.
Discoveries made through sessions with customer service teams and survey results identified areas customers viewed as obstacles and how I could overcome them.
The Result
The finished project has resulted in an enhanced user experience that is mimicked across mobile, tablet and desktop. Retailer results are sorted by distance from zip code and when available, mobile installers are defaulted to appear first offering the most convenient option to customers. Earliest installation dates are now shown as well as options to sort by earliest date first. It's now simple to quickly edit a zip code to see results in another area and users can toggle between the type of installer they want to use as well as select a price range giving a much clearer picture of what is on offer.
Mapping retailers
Displaying local retailers based on the users zip code offers customers a convenient way to view their options within the surrounding area.
Distance and date display
Customers can now see an accurate distance to their local garage as well as how quickly they can have tyres installed and filter using these options.
Enhanced user interface
Interactive filtering elements are now easier to identify as well as separating refine options from sorting options.
Pricing break downs
Breaking down all of the costs gives customers a transparent view of the associated costs expelling any doubt about what's included and what's not.
